Snowpocalypse!

So, no Finn shots, but wanted to get some of the storm we had over the weekend up and posted. I went out snowshoeing on Saturday afternoon in the midst of everything to check it all out and thought some of the pix were kinda fun.

I know this is nothing for you folks up in New England or out west, but still pretty impressive for us flatlanders....

Happy holidays to all!!

Snow!

Hi all-

Finn's doing well and looking forward to his first Xmas. Well, honestly, he has no idea what's going on, but he's a big fan of the various packages that keep showing up at the house. It's occurred to both mom and dad that a Christmas composed entirely of boxes, ribbons and crinkly paper might've been our best bet.

We got our tree up last weekend and the boy's totally pumped about it. The only way he'd be more pumped is if we let him put the whole thing in his mouth.

We've been getting out as much as possible lately and Finn has been a real trooper about all the various layers his mom insists on bundling him up in. (Yes, if it were up to his dad, the boy would run naked through the streets... Yet another reason we're all so lucky to have Mags in our lives!)

Speaking of running, Finn has discovered "assisted walking" or what some people would refer to as "cruising." This largely entails watching Finn clamber his way up to the vertical on any object within reach (ottoman, chair, table, wall, pants) and then shuffling around said object, parent or parents hovering in the immediate vicinity with breath held and arms outstretched for the inevitable tumble. A lot of the time this results in harmless bumps on the rear; just as often it seems to result in a bonked noggin, plenty of hollering and tons of parental guilt. "The floor's carpeted, I'm sure he's fine," or, "Holy, My God, he's done irreversible harm to his mellon and we'll forever be to blame when he can't muddle his way through Chem 101!"

Sorry, that's probably just dad projecting....

Anyway, Finn rode on his first swing last week (we've got a vid but Blogspot won't let us post it for some reason; share your outrage with them) and got out into his first snowstorm on Saturday. All in all, not too shabby a week!

Everybody's doing well (fairly healthy, not terribly wealth, but incredibly wise!), and we all send our love and best wishes for the holidays!

Peace and baby grease...

The Halloween Chicken Returns....

Hi all! Just wanted to get Finn's first Halloween pix posted as soon as we could. Continuing family tradition, Finn went as a chicken; technically, he was a baby chick, but hey.... Finn's costume seemed all the more appropriate when we were graced by a visit from Colonel Sanders and a bucket of his famous fried (grilled?) chicken.

And Grandpa Bill came over for his birthday feast and to spend time with his very favorite grandson; he also did his very best to scare the bejesus out of neighborhood trick or treaters.

Anyway, it was a fun night for all and we wanted to be sure everyone could be part of it. Enjoy...

Latest 40's

Well, here y'go....

Height: 30 inches

Weight: 27 lbs 12 oz

Head Circumference: 18.75 inches

He's off the charts as far as weight and head circumference ("Heed! Pants! Now!"); his height, or length, is in the 95th percentile. So he's still a very big dude and very healthy. Yay!

Apparently, having a head circumference that's more than half your height is totally normal for giant little dudes; go figure.

Love to all....

9 Months and Rockin'!

Just wanted to post a few pix of the boy; nothing witty, just thought folks might wanna see something new and spectacularly cute. Special thanks to his Gramma G for snapping these when she was last here; she also kindly provided the shot of him up top.

9 month check-up is tomorrow, so everyone keep your fingers crossed. We'll be sure to post his latest 40's as soon as we can.

Hope everyone's well, and enjoying the change in seasons. For some of you, I guess that means going straight from summer directly into winter without any fall whatsoever, but here's hoping some of you are enjoying the first whiffs of wood-fire, fantastical foliage and one of the best sounds ever: the shisss-shisss-shisss of feet sweeping through dry, fall leaves. Mmmmm.... The best!

Carve happy!

ps: oh, yeah, and he crawls now! hide the women and children....

Bundled up

I know, I know, two posts in 72 hours? Impossible!

But it's true!!

Finn and I went for a walk in the 44 degree weather this afternoon and his Mom insisted he be well-bundled. The results were way too cute not to pass along....

Just Finn Bein' Finn...

Wanted to get a few more pics up on the Report so everybody could see their favorite Goober. Life here in NoVa has been pretty good for Finn and his fam lately; Fall is here and that means all kinds of good stuff. The weather is getting crispy, Finn's cheeks are getting ruddier on his walks, leaves and acorns are dropping into his stroller, squirrels are going bonkers getting ready for winter (no end of amusement) and we even made it out to a local orchard for pumpkins, apples, gourds and farm animals.

Finn is doing well, sitting up, rolling and pivoting all over the house, thinking about crawling and practicing his standing in preparation of (dare we say it?) walking! We installed our first baby-gate (wish I'd studied more engineering...) and Finn's enjoying more and more solid foods. Well, maybe not solid, exactly, but definitely mushy. We head back to the doctor's office at the end of the month and we'll be sure to post his latest stats and 40-yard times as soon as we get 'em.

Hope this finds everyone well and livin' large. You can be sure Finn is!

August OBX, Great Gramma's B-day, Zoo, the Big House

Blogpost 27! Oh boy!

What to report???? Finn loved his second trip to the Outer Banks this August, and definitely got WAY more out of it than his first trip. Mom and Dad also had lots of fun, as did Auntie Lizzie, and all thanks to Nannie, aka, Grandma Liz, who served as our generous hostess. Thanks, Nannie!

We took lots of walks in town (Duck) and even ventured to the beach again (set up shade tent, watch Finn eat sand, break down shade tent, head back to the house); by far, though, Finn's favorite activity was going to the pool EVERY SINGLE DAY, playing with his cups, spinning in his Fortress of Wet-itude, and drinking as much pool water as he could get in his mouth.

We also brought his very own personal splash pool, which made a terrific way for Finn to spend some time with the ladies on the deck while they did their "reading."

So most of the pix here are from OBX. We've also got a few videos leading off.... The last one of these is underwater, which I thought was very artsy; Mom thinks something else about it entirely.

We also went to the Zoo, and up to PA to help celebrate Great Grandma's 91st birthday!

Anyway, lots of fun, and lots of great memories for a first summer.... Enjoy!
